Bitter Kola is a tropical plant native to West and Central Africa. It is a flowering plant that belongs to the Clusiaceae family with height of 8 to 15m producing fruits that is oval to round approximately 4 to 5cm in diameter, often yellow when ripen. The fruit contains seeds that are known as bitter kola seeds which are hard, brown measuring 2-4cm in length.
It is used as flavouring agent in dishes and beverages, medicinal uses because of its antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory effects, respiratory health, digestive aid etc.
